Description Conducive To Books Die Mitte der Welt

I would have never thought I would ever finish this book, read the last 150 pages in the middle of the night even though I should be asleep by now, when I picked it up randomly from the not as much furnished library of my school. Reading this in German (not my mother tongue) was hard, but I don't know if I would have appreciated it as much in my own language or in English. The beginning was slow, too slow. Then I just got too caught up in the labyrinth of Visible, I guess. And as a fresh 18I feel bad saying this but the main problem with this book is that it was too long. Steinhöfel gives an interesting story built around the intermingling of the present with and ever-present past. Unfortunately, the longer the novel drags on the more exhausted the reader becomes. I flew past the first 200 pages but then had to crawl to the finish. It is perhaps telling that my critique is the novels length rather than anything else, given that Steinhöfel avoids clichés and manages to find nuanced
"This was the reason I loved the library. For me it was the centre of the world."The Centre of My World is a wondrous and touching tale of childhood and adolescence, that reminded me of Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe. But better. Fight me.Update:I loved this book even more the second time around. The frustration that I felt when I read The Centre of My World for the first time was gone. Two years ago, the pacing was much too slow for my taste. Childhood flashbacks kept
This book is so much more than just a tale about a teenage boy trying to come to grips with his sexuality--to believe or conclude as much is a total disservice to both the characters and the reader. If you enjoy a fast paced plot and pages of dialogue--this book isn't for you. But if you enjoy getting to know a character--so intimately that when the book is over, you wonder when you'll see him again, then welcome to Visible, the large looming house on the hill. Phil is a seventeen year old boy,
It took me longer that I thought it would to read this book. I may be because of my love to watch Criminal Minds instead of reading, or it may be this unconventional crazy family that overwhelmed my understanding of the world sometimes. And lets be honest, its not only the family that it totally nuts. Kat and Nicholas are not better. Im very keen to watch the film once again now. Maybe this will clear my mind somehow. I dont like how I feel like a cant wrap my mind around these type of books. I
This is actually the second time I have read this book, however I did not realize that until I got to the end. How I did not put it together after watching the film adaptation I do not know. This novel is a little slow at times, and to be fair my German is very very rusty so it might just be me, but it was beautifully written and is a timeless novel, seriously it was written like 20 years ago and it still feels fresh. My heart aches for the characters and I just want to hug Phil and tell him he is
I fell in love with it back then - still loving it now.
